Guide for Authors

Advances in Environmental Technology (AET), is an open access Double Blind Peer-reviewed Journal which is published by Iranian Research Organization for Science and Technology (IROST), AET is a quarterly publication which concerned with all fields of the forefront of original environmental research in science, engineering and technologies. AET peer reviewed full length research papers, short communications, case studies, and critical review papers reporting on major advances in environmental areas.


Types of paper

Reviews should present a focused aspect on a topic of current interest or an emerging field. They are not intended as comprehensive literature surveys covering all aspects of the topic, but should include all major findings and bring together reports from a number of sources. These critical reviews should draw out comparisons and conflicts between work, and provide an overview of the 'state of the art'.

The journal publishes Full-text research Papers, Short Communications, Reviews, and Case Studies.

  • Manuscript has been 'spell checked' and 'grammar checked'
  • All references mentioned in the Reference List are cited in the text, and vice versa
  • Permission has been obtained for use of copyrighted material from other sources (including the Internet)
  • A competing interests statement is provided, even if the authors have no competing interests to declare
  • Journal policies detailed in this guide have been reviewed
  • Referee suggestions and contact details provided, based on journal requirements

Submission declaration and verification

Submission to this journal proceeds totally online. Use the following guidelines to prepare your article. Submission of an article implies that the work described has not been published previously, and is not under consideration for publication elsewhere. All communications (notification of the Editor's decision and requests for revision) take place by e-mail and via the author's homepage.

Authors are requested to provide the names and e-mail addresses of at least 3 reviewers.


Copyright

Upon acceptance of an article, authors will be asked to complete a 'Journal Publishing Agreement'. An e-mail will be sent to the corresponding author confirming receipt of the manuscript together with a 'Journal Publishing Agreement' form or a link to the online version of this agreement.

Role of the funding source

You are requested to identify who provided financial support for the conduct of the research and/or preparation of the article and to briefly describe the role of the sponsor(s), if any, in study design; in the collection, analysis and interpretation of data; in the writing of the report; and in the decision to submit the article for publication. If the funding source(s) had no such involvement then this should be stated.

Submission

Our online submission system guides you stepwise through the process of entering your article details and uploading your files. All correspondence, including notification of the Editor's decision and requests for revision, is sent by e-mail.


Referees

Please submit the names and institutional e-mail addresses of 3 potential referees. Note that the editor retains the sole right to decide whether or not the suggested reviewers are used.


Review Process

A peer review system involving two or three reviewers is used to ensure high quality of manuscripts accepted for publication. The Editor-in-Chief has the right to decline formal review of the manuscript when it is deemed that the manuscript is 1) on a topic outside the scope of the Journal, 2) lacking technical merit, 4) fragmentary and provides marginally incremental results, or 5) is poorly written.


Manuscript Preparation

The manuscripts should be typed double spaced in 12 pt Times New Roman font and it must include the essential elements: Title, List of authors, Addresses of authors, Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results and Discussion, Conclusions, Foot notes, Acknowledgements, and References

Divide your article into clearly defined and numbered sections. Subsections should be numbered 1.1 (then 1.1.1, 1.1.2, …), 1.2, etc.

Title: Should clearly indicate the content of the article. No abbreviation should be used in the title.

Authors and their addresses: Should be placed below the title. Use an asterisk (*) to distinguish the "corresponding author" with a footnote containing phone number (with country and area code), fax number, full postal address, and email address of the person.

(Title Page, including Titles and Authors and their addresses, should be submitted as a separate file.)

Abstract: Abstract should state briefly (no more than 300 words) the reason of the work, the significant new results and major conclusions. Abbreviations should be avoided.

Keywords: Up to five words should be provided.

Introduction: State the objectives of the work and provide an adequate background, avoiding a detailed literature survey and a summary of the results. 

Materials and Methods: Provide sufficient detail to allow the work to be reproduced. Methods already published should be indicated by a reference.

Results and Discussion: Results and Discussion should be clear and concise.

Conclusion: The main conclusion of the work must be presented in a short Conclusion section.

Acknowledgements: Collate it at the end of the article before the references.

Declaration of competing interest: Please add "The authors declare that they have no known competing financial interests or personal relationships that would influence this paper".

References:  All publications cited in the text should be presented in a list of references (and vice versa). References should be listed on a separate sheet in numerical order according to their order of appearance in the text. Typical citations are illustrated below:

Tables and Figures: should be numbered consecutively with Arabic numerals (Table 1. and Figure 1.). Tables must have a brief descriptive title. Figures should have figure captions. The content of figures and tables should not be duplicated. Figures and tables must be put in relatedd location in the manuscript.

Graphical abstract:

A graphical abstract is mandatory for this journal. It should summarize the contents of the article in a concise, pictorial form designed to capture the attention of a wide readership online. Authors must provide images that clearly represent the work described in the article. Graphical abstracts should be submitted as a separate file in the online submission system. Image size: please provide an image with a minimum of 531 × 1328 pixels (h × w) or proportionally more. The image should be readable at a size of 5 × 13 cm using a regular screen resolution of 96 dpi. Preferred file types: TIFF, EPS, PDF or MS Office files.
